Product details

First made in Milan in the 15th century, this traditional, delicate, dome-shaped bread is truly a labour of love. It takes three days to make and relies on a live sourdough starter (lievito madre) that must be fed daily year-round to stay alive. Rich with the best quality flour, eggs, butter, Moscatel grapes, Agrimontana orange, sugar and Heilala vanilla, the natural fermentation involves multiple long rests. It must hang upside down for hours to avoid collapsing under its own weight.

Unlike other extended-shelf-life panettone (some state they last for years), ours is preservative-free, with a peak shelf life of 18 days. Once you taste it we doubt that yours will last that long.

Baked in small batches during a two-week period leading up to Christmas, you can reserve yours now; we’re loathe to have you missing out. Bakes will coincide to deliver on your choice of either 11/12 December or 18/19 December.

INGREDIENTS: Panettone Wheat Flour, Butter, Sugar, Egg, Grape Muscatel Seeded, Almond, Pearl Sugar, Agrimontana Candied Orange, Orange Peel, Honey, Wheat Flour, Heilala Tonga Vanilla, Processing Aid (Wheat), Iodised Salt, Wheat Malt Flour, Cornflour.

CONTAINS:
Gluten, Wheat, Milk, Egg, Almond

Storage

Panettone is preservative-free, with a peak shelf life of 18 days. Keep at ambient temperature, away from direct sunlight.

Delivery

Whether you leave out a cooler bag or box for your delivery is entirely up to you. If you do, we kindly ask that it be easy to open and close. We deliver in the dark and do not want to wake you, your neighbours, or a sleeping dog, so we will collect your empties and place your fresh delivery just inside your gate. If you do not happen to have one, we'll put it beside your post box. If it's an apartment, please label your receptacle so we can be sure to make the correct delivery.

About the producer

Inspired by childhood memories of a wood-fired bakery in Bellata, NSW, Sonoma Bakery is a family business started by two brothers and their father. For two decades, they’ve partnered with Australian Sustainable Products growers, Wholegrain Milling, who supply their premium-quality, nutritious wheat. Like our other regenerative farmers, their approach focuses on agricultural practices designed to sustain, enrich and preserve the land through thoughtful crop rotation.
